ISMAEL ANDANI ABDULAI
ISMAEL ANDANI ABDULAI

Ismael leads the firm’s law and technology practice. His areas of interest include information privacy and data protection, financial technology, electronic commerce, intellectual property, computer crime, and cyber law. Ismael has counselled individual clients, as well as corporations, in several industries, including in ICT, ecommerce, telecommunications, energy, manufacturing, banking and financial services.

Ismael has a knack for ICT sector transactions, and negotiates, reviews, and drafts agreements in that field. His experience includes assisting tech start-ups in their incorporation, contracting, hiring, and intellectual property needs. He has advised and assisted clients in conducting privacy audits, as well as drafting privacy and data breach response policies. Ismael has also been engaged by E-commerce, fintech, and mobile payment companies to advise on the legal and regulatory compliance issues relating to money laundering, computer crime, data protection and electronic transactions. He has consulted for clients on issues relating to international data transfer, technology transfer, and technology outsourcing. Ismael also has an active practice in general civil, and criminal litigation.

Ismael holds a Master of Laws Degree (LL.M.), with a Certificate of Specialization in Law & Technology, from the School of Law of the University of California, Berkley. He has a Qualifying Certificate in Law (QCL), from the Ghana Law School and is admitted to the Ghana Bar. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Administration (BSc. Admin.), and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from the University of Ghana. He is fluent in English and has a working knowledge of French. He is also a part-time lecturer at the GIMPA Law School, where he lectures in Intellectual Property Law. He is a regular contributor to the World Bank’s Doing Business Report.

KOFI EDEM PENTY

Edem is an experienced litigator, and started his practice at Law Trust Company, where he represented individuals, and corporate clients from various industries, in civil and criminal matters in court, as well as before statutory bodies.

Edem is the lead in RLC’s employment, and family law practice.  He has enviable experience in negotiating and mediating labour disputes, as well as in drafting and reviewing labour related agreements. He has litigated on behalf of employees, as well as employers, in industrial disputes, at both trial and appellate levels, and represented clients before the Ghana’s National Labour Commission. Edem also has experience litigating and resolving family disputes relating to matrimony, custody, and estates.

Edem is also a Founding Partner at RLC and has a Qualifying Certificate in Law from the Ghana School of Law. He was admitted to Ghana Bar in 2011. He obtained his LLB in 2009, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Sociology in 2006, all from the University of Ghana, Legon. He completed his legal pupillage at REM Law Consultancy, in Accra, where he assisted senior partners resolve client problems in the mining, petroleum and energy sectors. He also served the Ghana Airport Company in Accra, between June and August 2009 while on industrial attachment at its Legal Department. He is a regular contributor to the World Bank’s Doing Business Report.

PETER OSEI-ASAMOAH
PETER OSEI-ASAMOAH

Peter is very passionate about the practice of law. While Peter has an active and varied practice, his areas of specialisation are in commercial and corporate practice, civil litigation, and commercial arbitration. Peter provides advisory services on transactions, as well as represents clients at trial and appellate courts, in high value commercial matters.

Peter has garnered experience practicing law both in Ghana, and internationally. In 2016, he was seconded to the London office of Mayer Brown International LLP under the International Lawyers for Africa (ILFA) program, having been selected to represent Ghana on the program. He worked with the Project Finance Team where he was involved in advising Lenders and borrowers on structuring and documentation of lending transactions. He also worked at Keating Chambers, London, a leading Barrister’s Chambers specializing in construction disputes.

Prior to joining RLC, Peter worked as the Lead Associate at Sentinel Law, and before that as an Associate at Law Trust Company. He holds a BSc. in Chemical Engineering, from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, and an LLB from the University of Ghana. At his call ceremony in 2011, Peter won the coveted award for the Best Student in Civil Procedure.

LEE OCRAN
LEE OCRAN

Lee’s personal interests are in construction, infrastructure, energy and natural resources. He has advised, negotiated, and litigated for clients in these sectors. Prior to helping found RLC, Lee was an associate at Law Trust Company, and had a stint at the Attorney-General’s department, where he undertook his mandatory pupillage.

Lee has commendable experience in transactional work in the Energy sector. He has recently been actively involved, on behalf of a foreign client, in negotiating and drafting relevant documentation for the development of a 660 MW energy plant.

Lee also has considerable practical and legal experience in construction. Being a contractor himself, his practical knowledge of construction and real estate always play an important role in the kind of advice he proffers to clients.  Lee is a naturally gifted negotiator.
